BRAND DEV
SPORT / MMA

A true legacy is built on defying all the odds and having an insatiable hunger for victory.  With UFC legend Anderson Silva, the Spider Kick brand stands as a symbol of how discipline, courage, and faith can come together to define a legacy.

Bringing a brand to life

Few sports rival MMA in its ability to surprise, challenge and engage both athlete and spectator. As a fan of UFC, it was an incredible opportunity to work with one of the greatest athletes to have ever stepped into the octagon.

In all it's history, just a few fighters have really punched through the limits of sport and culture to become household names. Working with Anderson Silva and the team, we built a brand founded on his personal philosophy and experience being a top performing athlete. One that helps you to challenge that voice inside your head telling you to quit, that it can't be done, or that you're not ready.

It's a challenge that anyone, both young and old, can relate to, whether that's in the ring or on the streets.

— Identity

What's central to the brand, visually, is the representation of Anderson as a fighter. Pulling from his time in the UFC, the iconic fight stance and power moves allowed for two interpretations.

The core of what Spider Kick represents is embodied in his famous front kick silhouetted logo. The world of Spider Kick, encompassing Anderson's personal philosophy, is represented with the spider logo. Each image conveying a sense of stability, strength and sport.

The silhouette of Anderson's iconic front kick is the brand's primary logo. This pose ties back to one of the most memorable and stunning finishes in MMA.

The brand toolkit included photo guidelines, design layout variations and various multiple parts that are strong and effective when used together.

With his quick striking speed and signature crouched stance, the spider represents Anderson's persona as a fighter. The icon sits balanced with four angled legs across each hemisphere, with the geometric body reminiscent of an MMA octagon.

— Gym Pop-Up

The Spider Kick Gym is a vision created by Anderson, a true sanctuary that balances training and fitness with recovery and relief. The gym space offered us room to include a cryogenic chamber and a training room with wall to wall-to-wall mat flooring.

The Spider Kick Gym served as a concept boutique that serviced fighters at all levels, in both training and recovery. There was also a lounge areas for meetings and a pro shop for gear and supplements.

— Spider Fit Fitness

Spider Kick's first ever commercial gym launched in Brazil in 2018 at the famous Maracana Football stadium. Its serves as a hub of activities the utilize the personal workouts created by Anderson.

— Performance

As part of having a complete outlook on training and fitness, Sports Wellness and Apparel categories were developed to offer athletes options, in and out of the gym, that could help them on their journey.

Packaging concepts for the Sport Wellness line.
Concepts for apparel collections ranging from basic graphic tees to performance pieces.

— Digital

Utilizing the massive online following that Anderson has, the Spider Kick site was created to become the central hub for all of the fighter's activities. His social media outlets regularly feature news and promotions about upcoming fights and events. This helps drive traffic to the .com site where users can get a closer look behind the brand and take in BTS content, even watch a training series.

We introduced a new visual direction specifically for social media. The core brand look was expanded to include a new photographic fracturing effect that enhanced the edgy, gritty look of the photos. Additional colors were added to the color palette along with a library of Anderson's motivational phrases, all in order to maximize our appeal to his fanbase.

This is about more than just going to the gym.
It's about more than taking a class.

It's about the everyday struggle you face getting from one goal to the next.

It's the dedication to the craft and the legacy you leave behind.

That’s something every fighter, and every fan, the world over can respect.
